Regardless of your present level in dance - absolute beginner to competing professional, infrequent social dancer or teacher - you WILL be pleasantly surprised at the change in your individual skills, physical appearance, and improved ability to partner, once you have begun to work privately with Jeff. This WILL be true even if you have previously perceived yourself as one with, "two left feet," void of rhythmic skills, having had a bad personal experience with dancing or dance instruction itself!
If you are a person who would rather hit a golf ball down the fairway than lose it in the rough, score a par rather than a double bogie, throw a strike rather than a gutter ball, be rewarded for good work with a salary bonus rather than be told about austerity then you'll love Jeff's teaching.
Learning to dance requires a very fundamental and cumulative approach beginning with self improvement in movement skills which allow for a positive contribution to the dance couple. Mr. Allen's teaching will reveal things about partner dancing that you have never considered, and will clarify those aspects that may have been misleading. "I will teach you to obtain pleasure from natural movement on the dance floor which will enhance your desire to continue for a lifetime," says Jeff, "with my methods you won't hear that suspicious compliment from onlookers, 'oh you took dance lessons,' but instead 'we watched in awe because you two look so natural and having so much fun!'" This does not happen by accident but requires effective work on the part of both student and teacher. A strong kinesiological perspective as an approach to becoming that envied couple at any social function makes all the difference. Dancing is a physical art loaded with perceptual illusion and misconception; therefore your feelings and resolve may have to be changed as an approach to dancing or even athleticism. It takes an experienced, honest, and knowledgeable instructor to do this effectively. The dance steps are the easiest thing to learn but without timing and balance they can be ineffective. "I always say that while others try to teach you to put your feet somewhere I teach you to take your feet off the floor. If you have ever played a game of Twister you are aware of the awkwardness created by placing a leg away from the body's center, it makes you STOP in your tracks. Let me show you how to move your bodies together and put the GO feeling in every dance step!"
